Manchester United defender Alexander Buttner has revealed that he is aiming to clock up more appearances as the club’s left-back in the new season.
The 24-year-old managed 13 appearances in all competitions last term, despite being Patrice Evra’s understudy in the specialist defensive position.
Buttner, who arrived from Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem in 2012, has admitted that he had a tough time settling into his new club for the first few months.
He further added that it is good for a club to have competition and that he intends to play a much bigger role for the Premier League champions in the upcoming campaign.

"The first few months were difficult for me last season. I had to settle in. But I think I did very well. I played 13 games which is good. This season my target is to play more games", the Dutch defender was quoted as saying by the club’s official site.
"Patrice did very well last season and played some good games. I put pressure on him because I did well when I played. I think Manchester United need that, two good left-backs. I want to go for the left-back position. That is my target, to play many games."
Buttner also feels that his club’s squad is strong enough to win another Premier League trophy.
"We want to win every game. We want to be champions again and we have a very good team in order to do that."
The left-back scored in his Premier League debut against Wigan Athletic on 15th September 2012.
