Manchester United youngster Michael Keane has stressed the importance of a good pre-season, which he believes will help him secure a place in Louis van Gaal's first team next season.
The veteran manager, who is currently in charge of the Dutch national team, will take over the reins at Old Trafford this summer and is expected to bring in his own ideas and changes to the team.
The 21-year-old, who is yet to make his debut for the senior team, is hopeful that the new manager, who has a reputation of promoting youth, will provide him with a chance to prove himself.
However, Keane believes that it will be up to him to prove his quality so that Van Gaal might think of handing him his senior debut.
