Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn is full of praise for Mirco Antenucci, who he feels is meeting the challenge laid down for him, that of playing himself back into the team.

The Italian was a regular fixture for Leeds in the first half of the season, but has slipped down the pecking order in 2015, as Redfearn has trusted in Championship experience, gaining the desired results with the Whites banishing relegation worries.

Antenucci came off the bench to score in Leeds' 3-0 win away at Fulham in midweek, while earlier this afternoon he again scored off the bench, helping the Whites to a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Blackpool with a sublime lobbed goal.

And Redfearn was not short of praise for Antenucci, who is Leeds' leading scorer.

"What he's doing is he's doing his talking on the pitch, which is what we want", the head coach told LUTV.

"To be fair to the lad he's worked hard in training, bided his time, kept his council and played well when he's come on and he's playing himself back into the side, which we've asked him to do."

Leeds have dropped to 13th in the Championship after their draw at Bloomfield Road and now have 52 points from 39 games to their name.

Redfearn has identified a top ten finish as the target for his side this season.
