Rangers skipper Lee Wallace has credited the management team after the club earned promotion back to the Scottish Premiership, following their 1-0 win over Dumbarton last night.

The Gers, who needed a victory to secure the Scottish Championship title, got the desired result, courtesy of James Tavernier’s strike after the break at Ibrox.

As a result, Rangers are returning to the Scottish Premiership for the first time since they had to start in the fourth tier following their liquidation in 2012.

And Wallace heaped praise on manager Mark Warburton, who took charge of the club at the start of the season, assistant David Weir and rest of the backroom staff for comfortably guiding Rangers to the title.

“Huge credit to the management team”, he told Rangers TV.

“The manager and David Weir have been absolutely first class and credit has to go to them along with the coaching staff and the backroom team.

“It’s been a magnificent team effort and I just want to thank the fans again as they have been inspirational.”

Rangers can win their second piece of silverware in the present campaign when they take on Peterhead in the Challenge Cup final at Hampden on Sunday.

Warburton’s team will then face Celtic in a Scottish Cup semi-final at the same ground a week later.
