Ruud van Nistelrooy has made no mystery of his desire to play regular football to boost his chances of being included in Holland’s World Cup squad in South Africa. With the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Gonzalo Higuain, and Raul ahead of him in the pecking order however, the possibility of him doing so in Real Madrid, will be very unlikely. According to Spanish paper Marca, Liverpool will be the club to offer him a solution to his problem.

It is reported the struggling Premier League side will offer the 33-year-old a six-month contract in the coming transfer window, with an option to be extended until June 2011. Any agreement of such a deal will depend largely though, on Real president Florentino Perez, who has stated that he has no plans of letting any players leave in January.

Van Nistelrooy missed almost the entire 2008/09 season after tearing a meniscus in his right knee, and has been limited to just four appearances in this campaign so far. The former Manchester United striker is confident that regular football will see him reach the form that saw him become one of the most coveted forwards in the world.
