Manchester City are interested in snapping up Fernando Gago from Real Madrid, hoping to bring in the Argentine before the winter transfer window slams shut. Madrid based daily Marca report that the Premier League club are preparing a €15M bid for the midfielder and that the player’s agent has travelled to Spain to discuss the situation.
Gago has been attracting much interest of late, with both Everton and Juventus reported to have kept tabs on the 23-year-old. Indeed, Gago is keen to enjoy more playing time in the second half of the season to push his case with the Argentina team ahead of the World Cup in South Africa. The Real Madrid man is believed to be keen on a move to Eastlands.
For Real Madrid the approach is somewhat unwelcome as the La Liga giants had only counted on the departure of Ruud van Nistelrooy in the January window. There would then appear to be some heavy negotiation to take place between Madrid transfer supremo Jorge Valdano and Gago’s agent Marcelo Lombilla.
