Real Madrid returned to the pinnacle of the La Liga standings last night, after dismantling Getafe 4-2, thanks to braces from the prolific duo of Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo. Both players have scored more 20 goals this season, and are proving to be one of Europe’s most potent strike partnerships.
“There is no rivalry between Cristiano and Higuain. They are both great players. The team benefits every time our strikers score,” Pellegrini said on the club’s official website. “They only think about netting strikes that can help the team win, which keeps our goal average up too."
Higuain in particular has been very impressive this season. The 22-year-old’s return of 22 goals in 22 league matches prove that the he is thriving on the excess of quality that surrounds him in the Real squad.
