Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini expects his men to be able to overcome the challenge of local rivals Atletico Madrid this evening and furthermore believes the league table shows the difference between the two clubs.

"Atletico is a very complicated rival" said the Chilean to Madrid based daily Marca, "Very good players, but in the league they are 34 points below us."

"The league is reflecting the level of each team."

After seeing Barcelona made to work for a 1-0 win away in Mallorca yesterday, Real Madrid know they must ensure they take three points from this Madrid derby. With El Clasico on the horizon, it remains essential that Pellegrini’s men go into the game at least level on points with the Camp Nou club. Then the game could become decisive.
