The Wembley pitch has once again come under attack, after Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp aired his frustrations at the condition of surface. Both semi-finals played in the stadium at the weekend saw plenty of players slipping and struggling with the slick ground, and the former Porstmouth boss was clearly unhappy.
“You have to spend the whole time making sure you don’t fall over. That can’t be right can it?" said Redknapp on BBC Sport. "How can you play on a pitch you can’t stand up on? Michael Dawson slipped on it and I was here yesterday and saw people unable to keep their feet. It’s unreal”
The Spurs manager is undoubtedly feeling aggrieved by the pitch’s state, especially as they conceded their first goal to Pompey after defender Dawson slipped at a vital moment.
