Despite taking a significant step in defending their La Liga title by defeating archrivals Real Madrid at the weekend, midfield dynamo Xavi Hernandez insists nothing has been won yet. The Spanish international fully expects the battle for domestic glory to continue as long as Los Blancos are within touching distance.

Nobody in the squad feels like a champion yet, there is a lot of league games left and some difficult away matches,” Xavi said on the club’s official website. “It will be very tough to the end, and we have to be prudent. Madrid won’t throw in the towel until they are mathematically out of it. We have to keep working because there’s a lot left to do.”

Barca are now three points ahead of nearest contenders Real Madrid with still seven league games left in the season.
