Manchester City’s Adam Johnson may find himself in an England shirt much sooner than he had expected, after Three Lions manager Fabio Capello expressed desire to give the youngster experience on the international level. With David Beckham and Aaron Lennon both out due to injury, the former Middlesbrough player could unexpectedly find himself on the plane to the World Cup this summer.

Johnson has caught my eye," said the Italian manager on BBC Sport. "Now it’s important he gets some international experience. He has come up from the Championship at Middlesbrough, where he played in a different position, and he has done well with Manchester City.”

Johnson was brought in to the Man City squad during the January transfer window, and has proven to be a masterful purchase by the mega-rich club. The 22-year-old has settled very quickly to the rigours of the Premier League, and looks to be a massive talent for The Citizens.
