Lee Carsley has confirmed that he will be leaving Birmingham City after spending two seasons with the club. The 36-year-old has been a regular for the side since joining from Everton in 2008, but has expressed his desire to take on a new challenge.
“I would like to announce that I will be leaving Birmingham City Football Club at the end of this season," Carsley said on the league’s official website. "I came to the club to help them back into the Premier League and then to stay there. I will now look to help another club achieve success and I relish another challenge."
Although he was named captain of the team last year, the former Republic of Ireland international has been restricted to just six Premier League appearances this season due to an ankle injury.
