Should Jose Mourinho end up as Real Madrid coach next season then a move for Chelsea’s Ashley Cole would be in the offing claims El Mundo Deportivo. The Portuguese boss is one of the favourites to take over the Bernabeu hotseat should Los Blancos choose to part ways with Manuel Pellegrini.

Another key target to reinforce Real’s defence is Manchester United’s Patrice Evra, though whether the La Liga giants move for Evra or Cole would seem to be determined by who is pulling the strings at the club. Reports from Spain have suggested Real are confident a bid of around €23M would be enough to once again team Evra up with his friend Cristiano Ronaldo.

The future of Cole is less clear, although Mourinho’s close relationship with the England left back would leave him convinced a deal can be done.
