FC Porto could suffer a double departure blow this summer with the news that both club captain Bruno Alves and club vice-captain Raul Meireles are open to moves away from the Portuguese giants. Porto lifted the Portuguese Cup yesterday, but that could not quite make up for the disappointment of losing the league to rivals Benfica.

Now two key stars could indeed leave.

Alves spoke to the press after the victory and stated that he cannot rule out looking for a move away from the club. "I have a contract with the club until 2012, let’s see. I am realistic, I have a contract with the club, but I pursue better conditions for my life and my career."

Attention soon turned to Meireles and whether Porto could count on his services next season. When faced with the question as to whether the Portuguese Cup was his last title with the club, the 27-year-old midfielder said: "You never know…"

Losing both key players would be a blow to Porto, but the Portuguese giants would be sure to extract a heavy price for their departure.
