Frustrated third-choice Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster is believed to be set to sign a deal with Birmingham City today, according to BBC Sport. The former Stoke sensation failed to hold down a regular spot in the side, despite being the Red Devils’ number one at the start of the season.
Major errors against Chelsea, Manchester City and Sunderland saw the 27-year-old move down in the pecking order, below veteran Edwin van der Sar, and Polish international Tomasz Kusczack. Warming the bench has left Foster frustrated, and he is now ready to jump ship the first chance he gets in order to get a regular run of games next season.
Birmingham will be losing Joe Hart, who returns to Manchester City after a highly successful loan, and Foster, despite a disappointing 2009/10 season, has been earmarked as the ideal replacement.
