After suffering a thigh injury in Spain’s final friendly match against Poland, Andres Iniesta faced a race against time in order to be fit for La Roja’s first match against Switzerland. There were fears the influential midfielder would have to be rested, but the Barcelona man has claimed he is fully fit to participate.
“There is no question of a risk being taken,” Iniesta said on Spanish paper AS. “Coach [Vicente Del Bosque] and I talked every day about how the recovery is progressing and if I am feeling better,” he continued, before concluding, “If I feel good, why not to play?”
Spain supporters will be buoyed by Iniesta’s swift recovery, as the talented midfielder is a crucial piece of La Roja’s squad.
