German coach Christoph Daum has ended his spell as coach of Turkish giants Fenerbahce. The 56-year-old was on a two-year contract in Istanbul, having only arrived at the beginning of last season.
Daum allegedly suffered a number of threats from supporters following the club’s failure to win the Super Lig and the German did not relish another year in the Turkish metropolis. Therefore a decision was taken to terminate the coach’s contract one year early.
The former Bayer Levekusen coach is a veteran of Turkish football, having managed Besiktas twice and Fenerbahce once previously. Daum is expected to return to Germany and seek a coaching position in the Bundesliga as he plots the next step in a colourful career.
