Liverpool have confirmed that Steven Gerrard is due to be missing for four weeks after undergoing surgery for a groin injury.
The midfielder missed Liverpool’s trip to Portuguese side Braga in the Europa League last night and previous to that had looked to be playing within himself in the 3-1 romp over Manchester United last weekend.
Now Gerrard has been forced to go under the knife to cure the groin trouble which has been troubling him and as a result faces four weeks on the sidelines.
The news is a blow to Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish who is looking to mastermind a late surge up the table, with a spot in the top four and with it Champions League qualification, still possible, if unlikely.
