Following former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon’s scathing attack on Jose Mourinho for damaging the great club’s reputation, another Los Blancos icon, Zinedine Zidane, has come to the Portuguese’s aid.

Zidane, who works closely with the club’s current president Florentino Perez and also helps Mourinho and the playing staff, has declared himself happy with the work he sees the former Inter coach carrying out. The Frenchman also admitted he has respect for Mourinho.

"My relationship with him and his staff is very good", said Zidane.

"I follow their work and work with them in everything to do with the first team. I have full respect for Mourinho’s work at Real Madrid."

The Portuguese has come under immense pressure at the Bernabeu following the side’s loss to Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final, combined with Mourinho’s outburst against the Catalan club, an outburst which has resulted in a five-match ban being handed out by UEFA.
