Bayern Munich appear to have reached an agreement with Schalke over the transfer of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. The German star will leave the Ruhr side this summer and the Allianz Arena has always seemed to be his preferred destination.

Now the outline of a deal looks to have been agreed with Schalke, with Bayern president Uli Hoeness reporting the ball is now in the Ruhr club’s court to finalise the terms they have set down.

"Our management has managed to outline an agreement with Schalke 04, the question now is whether they want to finalise the deal", Hoeness told Sky.

The sticking point appears to be over whether Schalke, who face 2.Bundesliga outfit Duisburg in the German Cup final next weekend, believe announcing a deal for Neuer would cast a shadow over their preparations and have a negative effect on the team.

"They have to decide whether or not it is a psychological advantage to announce the deal before the match", said Hoeness.

Bayern are believed to be paying €20M for Neuer’s services.
