Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has saluted the impact Javier Hernandez has had at Old Trafford this season.

The little Mexican striker looks the signing of the season and helped United to their record-breaking 19th top flight title. So far, Hernandez has clocked up 20 goals in all competitions; a superb return for a 22-year-old in his first season in the English Premier League.

And it is not just the rest of the league who have noted his excellence, it is apparent every day in training to his United team-mates, including Ferdinand.


"Javier has been phenomenal", said Ferdinand.

"It’s not just his goals, but his movement, his all-round work ethic, his desire to be in the right positions and to work hard.

"He is going to have a fantastic career. He has the mentality and the attitude for it."

And Hernandez could yet cap his first season off in even more style if he can help United defeat Barcelona in the Champions League final at Wembley on 28th May.
