Real Madrid are pushing ahead with their efforts to sign Benfica left back Fabio Coentrao.

The 23-year-old Portuguese defender was specifically named by Los Blancos coach Jose Mourinho as a quality player he would like to add to his squad at the Bernabeu over the weeked.

And this has served to pile more pressure on Benfica and the Real Madrid management to get the deal done.

The Portuguese giants are determined to extract a good price for Coentrao, especially as Mourinho’s will is now clearly known.

One other facet to the deal could be the inclusion of Argentine centre back Ezequiel Garay.

The 24-year-old Argentine made just eight starts at the Bernabeu under Mourinho last season and would presumably welcome the opportunity for more regular first team football in Lisbon.
