Bob Bradley has been sacked as national team coach of the United States.
The American had been in charge of his country since 2006, taking over after the country’s poor showing at that year’s World Cup in Germany.
Under Bradley the US recorded some impressive results, none more so than their run to the final of the 2009 Confederations Cup, where the side gave Brazil a bloody nose and could be counted unlucky not to take home the trophy.
However, expectations were raised and the US flopped in the 2010 World Cup, losing out to Ghana in the second round.
More recently Bradley had taken the team to the final of the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup, but Mexico proved too good for the Americans. Now Bradley’s reign is over.
"We want to thank Bob Bradley for his service and dedication", said US Federation President Sunil Gulati, "but we felt it was the right time to make a change."
Former Germany coach Jurgen Klinsmann is the favourite to replace Bradley.
