Nigerian defender Joseph Yobo has returned to Fenerbahce from Everton, beating the Turkish transfer deadline.

Yobo had a spell with the Istanbul giants last year, clocking up 30 appearances in a yellow and blue shirt.

The 30-year-old had not been shy about announcing his desire to head back to Turkey from Everton and has now got his wish.

"I’m really happy. I already said I wanted to return to Fenerbahce one day and I’m really happy to have got back", said Yobo to the club’s official website.

The Nigeria international also confirmed that despite the match-fixing allegations surrounding the club and their subsequent withdrawal from the Champions League, the future could still be bright.

"I’ve completely forgotten about the past and I am looking past the Champions League disappointment.

"The compensation is the league in Turkey, to show real strength and fight in the championship. We want to be champions again."
