Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has reassured Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli that his place in the Azzurri squad for Euro 2012 is not under threat.

Balotelli has angered the Citizens at times this season with various controversial incidents, the latest of which saw the forward given his marching orders against Arsenal in a crucial Premier League clash.

Indeed, Balotelli even issued a statement apologising for his misdemeanours after Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini admitted he could sell the player in the summer.

However, despite repeated troubles in England, Prandelli is counting on the former Inter man to lead the line in Poland/Ukraine in the summer.

"Of course, I’ve spoke with Balotelli", said Prandelli.

"We have never actually disagreed. I was glad he took responsibility to issue a statement at the club after his latest incident. I like people who take responsibility."

And Prandelli insisted the striker’s spot at Euro 2012 is not at risk.

"I have never thought about [travelling to Euro 2012] without Balotelli.

"He is of great value to the Italian national team."
