Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has explained he has relished his first year as boss at Anfield after joining the club from Swansea City in the summer of last year, adding that he now knows what it truly means to take the reins of a "world-class club".

The Northern Irish tactician has been widely praised for his maiden season with the Merseyside giants, lifting the club to sixth in the Premier League table and bringing in the likes of playmaker Philippe Coutinho from Inter Milan and Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea.

"This has been a brilliant year for my learning. Now I truly know what it means to be a Liverpool manager", Rodgers said in a press conference via LFCTV.

"You know the history of the club, you know its success but it’s only when you come inside and work that you understand the expectancy of it, the sheer level of it.

"Something when you go from a premier class club to a world class club – You find that change, you realise it", Rodgers concluded.

The Northern Irishman has already received acclaim from players current and former alike – defender Jose Enrique has praised the new style of football Rodgers has brought in at Anfield while ex-player John Aldridge believes the club "are making strides" under the new boss.
