Ligue 1 side Marseille have formally announced their acquisition of Lille’s left winger Dimitri Payet, with the player admitting he is looking forward to tackling head on the challenge now imposed on him.
Marseille are believed to have parted ways with a sum of cash worth €10m just so they could sign the French winger.
Payet previously had two years left on his deal with Lille before he made his decision to move to the Stade Velodrome.
"I feel great satisfaction. When one is at the heart of a period of change – the negotiations and discussions plunges a man into waiting – it took a long time, but now I’m happy its finally over", the 26 year-old told his new club’s official site.

Payet also admitted that moving to Marseille will increase his chances of playing for France on the international stage, which was something he was looking for especially with the 2014 World Cup drawing close.
"Throughout my career, I have always favoured the sporting choice. When I think of 2014 [World Cup], it is good, but OM is also playing in the Champions League. The challenge is raised, it is already exciting", Payet said.
