Liverpool are determined to defeat Stoke City on Sunday "at all costs" defender Martin Skrtel has insisted.

From sitting top of the Premier League table on Christmas Day, Liverpool have now slipped down to fourth and are just a single point ahead of fifth-placed Everton.

By the time they kick off against Stoke on Sunday, Liverpool could find themselves out of the Champions League places.

And for Skrtel, it is essential that the Reds grab all three points from the Britannia Stadium.

"It was a really hectic period in December and we had also two games in January, so now we have a week to recover which seems like a lot of time for us", the Slovakian wrote on his official site.

"But we know really well how difficult it is to play against Stoke in front of their fans and it is never easy.

"However, we want to win this game at all costs and continue our good run of form. And we want to stay on top so we really need three points from this game."
