Christian Eriksen has credited a "little speech" by boss Tim Sherwood for Tottenham Hotspur's come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Southampton at White Hart Lane today.

Southampton started the brighter in the Premier League clash, with Jay Rodriguez taking advantage of a Kyle Naughton mistake to put the visitors 1-0 ahead by the 19th minute.

Then the Saints doubled their lead through Adam Lallana just nine minutes later as England manager Roy Hodgson looked on from the stands, leaving Spurs in real trouble.

Eriksen finished coolly though in the 31st minute to ensure Tottenham would head in at the break just one goal behind.

In the second half Spurs were a different team though, Eriksen finishing again from close range in the 46th minute and bossing proceedings. They did have to wait until injury time to earn the winner however, as Gylfi Sigurdsson struck a sublime shot from the edge of the penalty area.

And Eriksen feels the players responded to what Sherwood wanted.

"We got a little speech at half-time", the Denmark international told Sky Sports.

"We of course try to play like the manager wanted.

"I think we showed way more in the first half than the second half", Eriksen concluded.
