Tottenham Hotspur boss Tim Sherwood has insisted he cannot comment on speculation that he will be sacked by the club in the summer.

Media reports today have claimed that the Spurs manager will be shown the door in the summer, with current Holland coach Louis van Gaal the favourite to take over.

Spurs' players responded to Sherwood this evening as the side crushed Sunderland 5-1 in the Premier League at White Hart Lane, but the questions post-match were all on the manager's future.

Asked what the latest is on his future by Sky Sports, Sherwood replied: "I can't comment on anything about my employment to be honest.

"You have to ask my employers about that."

Sherwood also indicated the toughness of the job he has been handed, with the players at the club signed by sporting director Franco Baldini for previous boss Andre Villas-Boas, rather than himself.

"The players who were brought into the club we brought for Andre Villas-Boas", Sherwood said.

"They are not bad players as you can see. It takes time, you're not going to hit the ground running with all of them."
