Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has promised to "unleash the supporters" against Manchester City on Sunday.

The Reds head into the clash against the third-placed Citizens sitting on top of the Premier League and with a four-point advantage over their rivals. Manchester City do have two games in hand however, making the meeting at Anfield vital.

The Reds have been superb at the ground this term, blowing away sides such as Everton, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, all by large margins.

The atmosphere created by the club's fans has been key and Rodgers is counting upon it once again on Sunday.

"We will unleash the supporters this weekend yet again on the opponent", he told a press conference.

"It's a real difficult place to come and play. I sense a real nostalgia at the moment. It's a real sense of the old Liverpool."

And Rodgers believes that the fans certainly give his team an advantage on the pitch.

"When we play at Anfield we expect to win, every game we play, with the backing of the supporters that gives us an extra man."

Liverpool head into the match having won their last nine consecutive Premier League games.
