Steven Gerrard admits that the last couple of months have been a personal career low for him.
England have been knocked out of World Cup after they suffered defeats in the first two group games against Italy and Uruguay.
"The past couple months from a personal point of view have probably been the most difficult of my career," Gerrard told the BBC.
Liverpool came close to winning their first league title in 24 years and Gerrard has conceded that failure to end the Reds’ barren run took a toll on him.
England’s capitulation in the World Cup made things even worse for the England and Liverpool captain.
