Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has revealed that the Premier League is the toughest league he has ever played in.

The Chilean switched to Arsenal from Barcelona this summer and has been the player of the season until now for the Gunners.

He has already scored eight times in ten league appearances for the north London side and has garnered wide-spread praise from all corners, especially from Arsene Wenger, who has seen his team struggle this season despite Sanchez’s heroics.

But Sanchez admits that it has been tough for him to adapt to the Premier League and stressed that it is the toughest league he has ever played in. The Chilean has played in Serie A and La Liga, in Europe, for Udinese and Barcelona respectively.

“The football played here is really tough – it’s very difficult”, the Chilean told AS.

“It’s been a struggle to adapt.

"Out of all of the leagues I have played in, this is the toughest.

"I’m enjoying the challenge, but it’s anything but easy.”

Sanchez said that lesser known teams and minor details are the things that make the Premier League fascinating as anyone can beat anyone on any given day, which makes the competition unpredictable.

“There's not such a great difference between the teams.

"The clubs at the bottom of the table can complicate matters for those at the top.

"Every game is decided by some small, minor details and I really love that – it keeps you alert, on your toes.”
