Rangers manager Mark Warburton was delighted with the performance of captain Lee Wallace against Greenock Morton last night in a 3-1 win.

The 28-year-old was one of the scorers in Rangers’ 3-1 win over Greenock Morton at Ibrox, as the Glasgow giants took one more giant stride towards the Scottish Championship title with another three points on the board.

Wallace’s 56th minute goal sealed the win for the home side, and other than being on the scoresheet, the Rangers captain was an ever present threat on the left channel because of his marauding runs from the full-back position.

The Scot has already notched up nine goals this season, and the Rangers manager has stressed the importance of his presence and influence inside the Gers dressing room.

When asked about Wallace’s performance, Warburton told Rangers TV: “Tremendous performance for Lee, his level of consistency has been first class.

“His desire, the way he talks to the players, the way he communicates with the senior players and all the players.

"I think if we improve our level of communication, we move to the next level as a team, and we have done that over the course of the season.

“Another key role for Lee, delighted for him.”

Wallace has been a regular feature of Warburton’s team, and has already clocked up 39 apperances this season in the Rangers shirt.

With Rangers opening up a 15-point gap at the top of the league table, Wallace is expected to be the man to lift the Scottish Championship title at the end of the season.
