Manchester United academy head Nicky Butt believes that youngster Marcus Rashford has a lot of potential, but it is still too early for him to burst onto the international scene.

The 18-year-old took Old Trafford by storm as he scored four in his first two matches at senior level, with two of them being against Midtjylland in the Europa League and two against Arsenal in the domestic league.

Butt, who is currently working as the head of the academy at his old club, and has thus seen the youngster at close quarters, believes that in spite of all his recent heroics the starlet needs time to jump onto the international scene.

Speaking about whether the England manager Roy Hodgson should take Rashford to Euro 2016, Butt told the BBC: "No, I think that's well too soon for Marcus.

"I think that could backfire on everybody, really, and might not be the right thing for him.

"But for me he is a young boy who is still learning the game, he has got a long way to go yet, so I think talk of England is well too soon for Marcus."

Butt though has no doubts about the talent that the academy recruit possesses. but insists that if things happen too soon it might do more damage than good.
