West Ham first team coaching assistant Julian Dicks is full of admiration for Dimitri Payet's work rate, believing that the Frenchman puts in the hard yards to bring out the best of his natural ability.

Payet has been a sensation for the Hammers since they scooped him up from French giants Marseille in the summer; the midfielder has hit the ground running and is widely considered to be one of the signings of the current Premier League season.

The Frenchman was again in superb form at the weekend as his 35-yard free-kick flew past David de Gea and into the Manchester United goal at Old Trafford. Louis van Gaal's men did salvage a 1-1 draw and an FA Cup quarter-final replay, but needed a late Anthony Martial goal to do it.

While Payet's ability has delighted the West Ham faithful, Dicks also feels the hard work the Frenchman puts in is key.

He told West Ham TV: "For all the ability that Dimitri has got, he works hard for the team as well which for me makes him stand out even more.

"Apart from his ability his work-rate is really good as well and hopefully he can keep producing this form. He is a fantastic player, but is a good lad as well and hopefully it can continue."

Payet will be hoping to do his bit to fire West Ham through to the semi-finals of the FA Cup, where Everton await, by putting Manchester United to the sword in the replay at the Boleyn Ground.
