Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld admits that a Borussia Dortmund goal could kill off their Europa League last 16 tie and as such the north London outfit must take risks to claw their way back into the contest.

A 3-0 loss in the first leg at the Westfalenstadion means Mauricio Pochettino’s men have their work cut out at White Hart Lane and are aware that Dortmund are the favourites to knock them out.

Tottenham’s forward line will be under pressure to get their side back into the tie in north London tonight, but their defence will also need to keep Dortmund at bay, as an early goal for the away side could kill off the tie.

Alderweireld admits that there will be pressure on him and his fellow defenders, but admits that Spurs have very little option other than throwing caution to the wind at White Hart Lane.

When asked how a Dortmund goal could finish the tie, the Belgian admitted to Spurs TV it would be a blow, but insisted that his side simply must take risks. He said: “Yes, that is not going to be very good.
