Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin has urged the club's players to give their all in the remaining matches this season in order to impress their new manager.

Chelsea, who are currently under the stewardship of interim boss Guus Hiddink, will replace the Dutchman with a new manager after the end of the present campaign.

Italy head coach Antonio Conte is the favourite to take charge of Chelsea next season, while other managers such as Juande Ramos and Massimiliano Allegri have also been linked with the job.

And Nevin insisted that every one of those linked managers will be keeping close tabs on Chelsea’s performances this season to have a clear idea of the quality of the players at Stamford Bridge.

As a result, the 52-year-old wants the Chelsea stars to get into the good books of the incoming manager by putting in impressive performances in the nine league games remaining this term.

“Whoever it is, we’ve had three or four names but let me tell you that every one of those guys will be watching every single game”, he told Chelsea TV.

“Even if they are not there [at the stadiums], they’ll be watching it on DVD. So you better make sure that the [incoming] manager thinks you’re any good.

“Because he may have made a decision on you before he turns up. Because he is going to have to make changes in the summer.

“So if you’re a player here and you want to stay here you’ll probably have to put your head right on the block and say ‘I’m going to do everything I can to show [my worth to] the new manager’ because if you don’t, you might be going out in the summer.”

Chelsea are currently 10th in the Premier League with 40 points from 29 outings.
