Greenock Morton boss Jim Duffy thinks next month’s Old Firm derby could be one of the most open games between Celtic and Rangers in a long time if both teams play their normal games.

The Gers, who lost their first game in 16 outings in all competitions when they went down 3-2 at Falkirk last week, beat Dundee 4-0 in the Scottish Cup earlier in the month to set up a semi-final date with Celtic at Hampden on 17th April.

While Rangers have managed to score 75 goals in 29 Scottish Championship matches, Celtic have managed to find the back of the net 73 times in 30 Premiership outings, thus making the Scottish giants’ the highest scorers in their respective divisions.

And Duffy, whose side have faced both Rangers and Celtic in the present campaign, explained that he is expecting an exciting Old Firm derby at Hampden, provided both teams play to their usual attacking best.

"They both play a very open style, that is the first thing, so I am really interested to see whether any of them adapt when the two teams come up against each other", Duffy was quoted as saying by the Herald Scotland.

"If they do play the same style they play most weeks it could be one of the most open Old Firm games in a long time."

Celtic will go into the semi-final tie as favourites due to their presence at the top of the Premiership.
