Eric Dier believes his Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Danny Rose fully deserved to be called up by England for the friendlies with Germany and the Netherlands.

Rose, who has been in fine form for Spurs in the current campaign, has managed to provide solidity to the club’s backline; the north London outfit have the best defensive record in the Premier League this season.

The 25-year-old left-back has been equally impressive going forward, with the defender scoring once and providing three assists in 24 appearances in all competitions.

As a result, England boss Roy Hodgson decided to include Rose in his squad, ahead of the Three Lions’ friendlies against Germany and the Netherlands on 26th and 29th March respectively.

And Dier, who himself made his England debut last year, expressed his delight at seeing Rose on the international front too.

“It’s great news for Danny to be called up”, Dier told the club's official site.

“I think this season he’s been the best left-back in the Premier League so it’s well deserved and obviously the same for Dele [Alli], Harry [Kane] and Kyle [Walker], everyone deserves to be in there.

“It’s full credit to the club, the manager and of course ourselves for taking our chances and playing well at Spurs.”

Rose, whose present contract with Tottenham runs until 2019, has represented England up to Under-21 level.
