West Ham co-chairman David Gold has expressed is delight at securing Manuel Lanzini’s signature on a permanent contract.

The Argentine joined the Hammers last summer from Abu Dhabi club Al Jazira Club on a season-long loan deal, and has now agreed to sign a permanent contract, effective from 1st July.

Lanzini has been one of the more consistent performers for Slaven Bilic’s impressive West Ham team, and has scored six goals and provided three assists in 22 appearances for the Hammers this term.

Gold feels Lanzini’s signature shows that West Ham are committed towards keeping their best players, before they move to the Olympic Stadium next season, and has stressed the importance of the Argentine being inside the Hammers dressing room, where the midfielder has carved out a niche for himself.

The West Ham co-chairman told the club’s official website: “I am delighted that Manuel Lanzini has become the latest big name in our squad to agree a new contract with the club.

“It demonstrates our commitment to securing the best players and it is fantastic news.

“He is not just a player who excites us but he has a great character which is so important in the dressing room.

“I am so pleased for him that the deal has now been finalised and he is the perfect fit for our football club.”

With just a point separating them from Manchester City in fourth, Lanzini and his West Ham side have a great opportunity to play Champions League football next season, if they finish the current campaign on a high.
