Rangers winger Harry Forrester wants victory over Raith Rovers next weekend to set up the chance for the Gers to win the Scottish Championship title at Ibrox the following week.

A 4-3 home victory over Queen of the South at Ibrox on Saturday has moved the Gers to within two wins of clinching the title and with it a place back at Scottish football's top table, the Premiership.

Victory over Raith at Stark's Park next Saturday would set up the chance to clinch the title on home turf against Dumbarton on Tuesday evening, something Forrester feels would be special.

The winger, who joined the Gers on a six-month deal from Doncaster Rovers in the winter transfer window, explained to Rangers TV: "If we can win at Raith Rovers next week then get the win here at Ibrox to win the title then that would be lovely."

But Forrester is also keen not to let Rangers' game by game focus slip and insists at present the Gers are concentrating on preparing for their fixture with Raith.

"Like I said though, we will always just take it one game at a time and we’re now only thinking about playing Raith and trying to take three points from there", he added.

Forrester scored Rangers' opening goal at Ibrox against Queen of the South, setting Mark Warburton's men on the path to victory, although they were made to work for the win with the visitors never giving up.

Following their home fixture against Dumbarton, Rangers take on fierce rivals Celtic in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.
