Belgium head coach Marc Wilmots has indicated that Manchester United are not using Marouane Fellaini’s judiciously, as he is at his best when played as a box-to-box operator.
Despite criticism from large sections of the Manchester United fans, Louis van Gaal has persisted with Fellaini in the middle of the park, but the Belgium has done very little of late to repay his manager’s faith.
He was even jeered off the pitch at Old Trafford in recent times, something Van Gaal didn’t like, but Wilmots feels Fellaini’s performances have not been up to the mark because he is not being used properly.
The Belgium coach, a rabid defender of Fellaini even in his darkest days, believes the midfielder is at his best when he is asked to perform as a box-to-box operator, despite the Belgian’s ability to play in a variety of roles.
Wilmots was quoted as saying by Het Laatste Nieuws: “Fellaini comes into his own as a box-to-box [midfielder].

Despite criticism from the fans, the 28-year-old has made 29 appearances for Manchester United this season and is expected to feature prominently until the end of the campaign.
