Denmark coach Age Hareide feels there was no malicious intent to Liam Bridcutt’s ‘terrible’ tackle on Erik Sviatchenko, but believes the midfielder should have been sent off for it.
Scotland scored a narrow 1-0 friendly win over the Danes last night at Hampden Park, but there was some bad blood created between the teams when Leeds midfielder Bridcutt clattered into Sviatchenko, which left the Celtic defender reeling in pain on the pitch.
While the defender recovered after receiving treatment on the sidelines, Bridcutt’s challenge could have caused more damage than it finally did.
Though Hareide feels the midfielder should have been sent off for such a dangerous tackle, he doesn’t believe that the Leeds man’s terrible challenge had any malicious intent behind it.
But he admits it could have broken Sviatchenko’s leg, and wants Strachan to have some stern words with Bridcutt.

Speaking about the infamous tackle, Hareide was quoted as saying by STV: "It is red card. He could have broken Sviatchenko's leg, the way he dives in.
"I don't think he meant to be nasty, I just think he was over eager. But it was really bad. I saw television pictures afterwards and it was terrible.
"He could have taken his leg or his career.
"That boy should be spoken to and I hope Gordon will do that."
Bridcutt was recalled to the Scotland squad following an impressive season at Leeds, and it was his first national team appearance since 2013.
