Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oyvind Leonhardsen thinks beating Liverpool on Saturday is vitally important for the club’s hopes of winning the Premier League title this season.
Spurs, who headed into the international break on the back of a 3-0 win over Bournemouth, are currently second in the standings with 61 points from 31 games, just five adrift of leaders Leicester City.
On the other hand, Liverpool presently find themselves ninth in the table with 44 points from 29 outings.
And Leonhardsen, who also played for Liverpool, feels the tables have now turned as during his playing days the Reds were a superior team to the north London outfit.
The 45-year-old then went on to underline the importance of Tottenham bagging as many points possible from their remaining seven league games to spice up the Premier League title race.

“Tottenham are second and Liverpool are a few places below”, Leonhardsen told the club’s official site.
“Things are different and, for me, I can see that Tottenham have a chance now.
“There are seven games to go and I think it’s very important for the club to win the game this weekend and also the next one.
“If they can get some points out of those matches it will be a really interesting end to the season.”
The corresponding fixture between the two teams ended in a goalless draw at White Hart Lane in October.
