Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur are desperate to show that they are the better team when they take on Liverpool in a Premier League fixture on Saturday.
Spurs, who headed into the international break on the back of a 3-0 win over Bournemouth, are currently second in the league standings with 61 points from 31 games, just five adrift of leaders Leicester City.
Pochettino’s team have lost just four league games in the present campaign, the second-lowest in the division.
On the other hand, Liverpool, who appointed Jurgen Klopp in October, are ninth in the league table with 44 points from 29 outings.
And although Pochettino admitted that it is always difficult for a manager to implement his ideas when he takes charge of a team midway through the season, the Argentine explained that Liverpool have a “very good” squad at their disposal.

“It’s always difficult to take charge of a club in the middle of the season and implement your ideas”, he told Spurs TV.
“But Liverpool have a very good team, have very good players. Klopp is a great manager and we’ll expect a very tough game on Saturday.
“I think it’s a battle and we need to show that we’re better.”
The corresponding fixture between the two teams in October, which was incidentally Klopp’s first game in charge of Liverpool, resulted in a goalless draw.
