Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has insisted that he is not concerned about people being linked with his job at the club, as even Arsene Wenger has to go through the same at Arsenal, despite the Scot feeling the Frenchman has worked wonders at the Emirates Stadium.

Since Leeds' 4-1 derby loss to Huddersfield prior to the international break, Evans’ role has been under the scanner and number of candidates have been linked with replacing him at Elland Road.

There has been speculation that former Italy defender Fabio Cannavaro could be set to replace the Scot at Leeds, but Evans is not one bit perturbed by the rumours, as he feels that is part and parcel of the game.

He illustrated the point by saying that even Wenger, considered one of the greatest Premier League managers, is facing questions about his future at Arsenal, with other coaches being linked with the job.

On being asked whether when a legend like Cannavaro is linked to his job, does it show the magnitude of Leeds United as a football club, the Scot said in a press conference: “Number one is, yes.

“Number two is that you have to look at Arsene Wenger; he has qualified for the Champions League 16-17 years in a row, and conceivably can still win the title, probably they have got the best pound per point ratio in the whole world.

“And I see names linked to his job.”

Evans remains hopeful of getting a new contract and a considerable transfer budget in the summer to move forward with Leeds United.
