Celtic’s Craig Gordon has insisted that he wants to show Heart of Midlothian fans that he is still a fine goalkeeper by putting in a good display against his former employers in a Scottish Premiership game later in the day.
The 33-year-old progressed through Hearts’ youth academy before going on to make over 150 appearances for the club.
Gordon then decided to ply his trade in England with Sunderland, whom he joined in 2007; the custodian was then snapped up by Celtic in 2014.
And the Scotland international, whose side are en route to winning the Scottish Premiership title for the fifth successive season, explained that he still enjoys a good relationship with the Hearts fans.
“I have always had a good relationship with the Hearts fans and I want to go out there and win the game, but I also want to show the Hearts fans that I’m still as good as I was when I was back there”, Gordon said in his pre-match press conference.

“There are a lot of different motivations – some players would want to show they are better players and shouldn’t have been released from that club, but I just want to go out and play my best so that both sets of fans can see me playing well.”
Gordon, whose present contract with Celtic runs until the summer of 2018, has made 44 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish champions in the present campaign, keeping 18 clean sheets.
He also has 46 caps for Scotland to his name.
