Leeds United boss Steve Evans claims even Rotherham United manager Neil Warnock understood his substitutions at the New York Stadium on Saturday, with the former Whites boss praising the Scot for changing the course of the game with his fresh faces.

With Leeds trailing 1-0 to the Millers, Evans threw wingers Stuart Dallas and Mustapha Carayol on in a double change. They replaced Lewis Cook and Alex Mowatt, with the travelling Leeds fans booing the substitutions.

Evans then brought Luke Murphy on in the 74th minute and five minutes later he had drawn Leeds level at 1-1. Rotherham later scored from the penalty spot to win the game 2-1, but Evans continues to insist that there can be no fault found with his substitutions.

And the Scot says even Warnock knows the changes were right.

"I've just been complimented by Neil and his staff about how effective we became when we made our changes", he said on BBC Radio Leeds after the match.

"So we got our changes right. Two weeks ago against Huddersfield we didn't."

Evans' side have now lost their last two consecutive games, both being Yorkshire derbies, much to the disappointment of the club's fans.

The Scot will be desperate for Leeds to bounce back on Tuesday night when QPR visit Elland Road in a Championship fixture.
