Steve Evans believes the Leeds United fans have every right to be unhappy with their side following two successive derby defeats.

Leeds went down 2-1 away to Rotherham United at the New York Stadium on Saturday, a loss which followed hot on the heels of a 4-1 home drubbing dished out by Huddersfield Town.

Losing two Yorkshire derbies in a row has left Leeds fans unhappy and Evans believes they have every right to be.

However, the Scot stressed that in contrast to the defeat against Huddersfield, Leeds' performance against Rotherham was acceptable.

"They are entitled not to be happy. We've lost two derby fixtures", he explained on BBC Radio Leeds after the game.

"We lost badly against Huddersfield, we didn't lose badly [to Rotherham], we lost through someone not doing a basic bit of defending."

Leeds saw a defensive error from Giuseppe Bellusci hand Rotherham victory on a plate late on at the New York Stadium and the pressure is now on the Whites to respond when QPR visit Elland Road on Tuesday evening.

Evans is hoping Leeds can enjoy a strong finish to the season as he looks to convince owner Massimo Cellino that he is the right man to lead the Whites into next term.
